Job Description
Mobile DevOps Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a Mobile DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices specifically tailored for mobile application development. This role requires a mobile first mindset with solid hands-on experience in automating build, test, and release workflows for iOS and Android platforms, complemented by a working knowledge of broader DevOps practices and cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on engineering role with expectations of technical ownership and cross-functional collaboration with mobile developers, QA, and platform teams to drive quality and velocity in mobile delivery processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain mobile CI/CD pipelines for iOS and Android applications using Azure DevOps
- Automate build, test, signing, and deployment workflows to reduce manual effort and increase release frequency
- Manage GitHub repositories, branching strategies, and pull request workflows in alignment with team standards
- Track and manage delivery tasks, sprints, and release milestones using Jira
- Collaborate closely with mobile developers and architects to align DevOps practices with platform standards and best practices.
- Manage app store release processes, including versioning, rollout management, and production support
- Implement and maintain automated testing gates within pipelines to enforce quality standards
- Monitor build health, pipeline performance, and release stability, driving continuous improvement
- Integrate security scanning and compliance checks into mobile delivery pipelines
- Manage mobile build infrastructure, including hosted and cloud-based build agents
- Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions from a DevOps perspective
- Maintain documentation for DevOps processes, runbooks, and release procedures
- Actively explore and apply AI-assisted tooling where relevant to improve pipeline efficiency, code quality, or developer experience.
Required Skills
- Strong expertise in mobile CI/CD tooling – Fastlane, Bitrise, Codemagic, or equivalent
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps for pipeline management, work tracking, and release orchestration
- Proficiency in GitHub for version control, branching strategies, pull request automation, and merge gates
- Experience with Jira for project tracking, sprint management, and cross-team collaboration workflows
- Solid understanding of iOS and Android build systems – Xcode, Gradle, code signing, provisioning profiles, and keystores
- Experience with automated testing frameworks for mobile – unit, UI, and integration testing pipelines
- Proficiency in app store deployment automation – release tracks, versioning, phased rollouts, and metadata management
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and containerization (Docker basics)
- Proficiency in writing and maintaining YAML-based pipeline configurations for Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions, with basic scripting ability in Shell or Python as needed
- Understanding of secure coding and DevSecOps practices relevant to mobile (secrets management, SAST integration, certificate pinning)
- Familiarity with mobile monitoring and observability tools (Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, Datadog, etc.)
- Good understanding of Android and iOS platform fundamentals – lifecycles, platform limitations, and native integration considerations
- Strong collaboration skills with mobile developers, QA, backend, and product teams
- AI Fluency – demonstrated curiosity and ability to reason about, adopt, and apply AI tools in an enterprise development context; hands-on AI implementation experience is a plus but not a prerequisite.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of overall experience in software engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure roles
- 2+ years of hands-on experience focused on mobile CI/CD pipelines (iOS & Android)
- Proven experience working with mobile build systems such as Gradle, Xcode, and Fastlane
- Experience with app store submission and release automation (Google Play, Apple App Store)
- Strong experience working in Agile / Scrum environments
- Hands-on experience participating in technical design and architecture discussions
- Familiarity with Flutter, React Native, or native mobile development is a strong advantage.
